The quest for visual intelligence has been significantly accelerated with the convergence of advances in machine learning, availability of large scale datasets, and progress in performance of GPUs. These developments have led to advances in visual understanding of scenes in various mobility applications, including automated vehicles, driver assistance systems, and robotics. Research in machine learning and computer vision at HRI has led to solutions to challenging problems in mobility including behavior forecasting and motion planning and decision making in complex interactive traffic scenarios.
