Immersed intelligence refers to immersive technology powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Over the past decade, the immersive technology has emerged as one of the most pervasive technologies to transform the way we learn, live, and connect. It exploits a simulated world to create the feel of being in a physical world, which rewards the user with a sense of immersion in real life setting. Artificial Intelligence describes the intelligence of machines by simulating the cognition of humans. Endowed with human-like intelligence, machines can perform intellectual tasks such as planning, learning, problem solving, self-awareness and perception.
Nowadays, scientists are accelerating the convergence of AI with immersive technologies like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to enable users to interact with real objects in a virtual world. By merging digital and physical worlds, immersed intelligence provides integrated capabilities in such a way that immersive develops the techniques and AI powers them. Multiples hardware and software technologies are developed to create a fully immersive, perceptually-real environment. For example, stereo display, haptic technology, and electronic nose stimulate human senses to create perceptually-real sensations. Brain–computer interface, emotion recognition and speech recognition provide the ability to interact and communicate with the virtual environment. Software integrates AI and cloud computing to render the virtual environment and process the user input to provide dynamic, real- time response for surrounding sensory feeling felt by the user. AI equipped devices can be trained by algorithms to recognize the physical objects in real world and create detailed virtual scenery for users to interact with. Advancing with data analytics, machine learning and computer vision, immersed intelligence are creating endless new possibilities with spontaneous response shaped by machine-generated reactions emulating human behaviors.
