Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a a self-motivated Quantum Cognition Research Intern to join our interdisciplinary research team. The successful candidate will engage in the development of computational models that elucidate human decision-making processes within group interactions, utilizing non-traditional methodologies in cognitive science. Responsibilities include capturing emergent group behaviors and biases, conducting comparative analyses between quantum-based and classical cognitive models, and potentially designing and analyzing user studies. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering research at the intersection of quantum theory and human cognition, with the potential to publish findings in leading academic journals.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and implement computational models of group decision-making using quantum cognition frameworks.
  • Analyze emergent behaviors and group biases through simulations and model evaluations.
  • Design and conduct user studies to collect data pertinent to group interactions and decision-making processes.
  • Compare and contrast quantum-based models with existing classical cognitive models to assess performance and validity.
  • Present research outcomes in academic settings and contribute to scholarly manuscripts for publication.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • ​Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong foundation in computational modeling and familiarity with quantum theory principles for modeling human decision making.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MALTAB, Python, etc., with experience in scientific computing libraries.
  • Demonstrated ability to design experiments and analyze human behavioral data.     

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • ​Experience with quantum computing platforms and understanding of quantum algorithms.
  • Background in group dynamics, social psychology, or related areas focusing on group decision-making.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their application in cognitive modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis tools.
  • Proven publication record in relevant fields.
