Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a ​highly motivated intern to contribute to our research on video-based human proficiency evaluation. The project focuses on estimating human proficiency or skill level in completing various tasks based on video recordings of human activities. The intern will work on real-world challenges involving effectively using features extracted from videos with long-horizon and complex human activities and learning to extract useful features from such videos. The intern will also have the opportunity to contribute to high-impact publications and patents.

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Sequence analysis based on activities or features extracted from human activity videos
  • Development of advanced video embedding learning methods that can capture key features related to human proficiency evaluation
  • Document technical and research developments; draft papers and patents

 

Minimum Qualifications

 
  • M.S. in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or related fields
  • Proficiency in python and pytorch
  • Research or development experience in computer vision
  • Good quantitative analysis skills

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • Ph.D. students with strong research experience in computer vision, such as
    • Sequence analysis, e.g. sequence comparison, sequence approximation, etc.
    • Video emedding learning
    • Video based motion prediction
    • Human activity analysis or prediction
    • Hand tracking
