Group Norm Detection and Behavioral Sensemaking

Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a curious research intern to join our team and explore how groups form, adapt, and negotiate behavioral norms. This internship will focus on detecting and modeling group norms in collaborative settings, with particular emphasis on how individuals make sense of behavioral expectations and how these expectations influence group dynamics and performance. The project lies at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI), social computing, cognitive science, and AI-driven group behavioral modeling. The intern will work closely with researchers to design studies, analyze multimodal data, and develop computational frameworks that capture emerging group norms and expectations.
