Postdoctoral Computer Vision Scientist: Foundation Models for Human Behavior Understanding

Job Number: P22T08
The primary focus of this position is to conduct research and develop foundation models in social mobility that can facilitate understanding, reasoning, and prediction human behavior based on language and visual inputs. The successful candidate will use the developed models to achieve situation and scene understanding, as well as facilitate reasoning, forecasting, and classification of various aspects of human behavior, including their actions, activities, and affective, physical, and physiological state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and develop innovative algorithms and models for understanding and predicting human behavior based on language and visual inputs.
  • Design and implement machine learning and deep learning models to recognize and classify human actions and activities accurately.
  • Develop algorithms and techniques for human-object interaction (HOI) detection, including localizing both the human and an object and identifying complex interactions between them.
  • Incorporate techniques for recognizing distress signals from humans, including physical, emotional, and cognitive distress, into the model.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project goals, and integrate developed models into practical applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research in the field of computer vision, natural language processing, and machine learning, and apply relevant advancements to ongoing projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to interns.
  • Support ongoing research initiatives in intelligent systems and next-generation mobility by leveraging the developed models.
  • Design, development, and integration of software systems and architectures necessary to realize research prototypes
  • Contribute to a portfolio of patents, academic publications, and prototypes to demonstrate research value

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on computer vision, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.
  • Strong background in deep learning, computer vision,
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing state-of-the-art models for recognizing human actions and activities, and interaction analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including development and delivery of presentations, proposals, and technical documents
  • Strong publication record in computer vision or machine learning with emphasis in human behavior understanding

 

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale dataset collection, annotation, and curation.
  • Knowledge of human behavior analysis, affective computing, or related fields.
  • Research and development experience with embodied AI systems
  • Background in natural language processing.
