Honda Research Institute USA Inc. (HRI-US) is seeking a scientist or senior scientist to develop spin, molecular or hybrid qubit technologies. Duties will include characterization and understanding of magnetic, electronic, optical properties, of qubits, their initiation/readout and broad research activities aiming at applications in quantum sensing and communication. The successful applicant will lead fundamental studies of magnetic and optical properties of NV-diamond based platforms, molecular qubits as well as developing a prototype of distributed quantum sensing and communication. This position requires independent research skills, solid knowledge and experience in quantum physics and photonics. Experience of developing neural network algorithms is welcome. The applicant will have the opportunity to grow into the role of leading a direction in developing quantum distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Studies of magnetic (e.g. ESR) and optical properties of solid state, molecular and hybrid qubits.
  • Design and testing of prototype system for quantum communication.
  • Contributing to designing and testing of prototype system for distributed quantum sensing.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in quantum physics or optics and applied physics. Postdoc experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in qubits initiation and readout techniques and noise spectroscopy techniques.
  • Experience in design and testing of photonic system
  • Performing structural and property characterizations using ESR, NMR, SEM, AFM, Raman, and PL spectroscopy etc.
  • The successful candidate should provide at least two recommendation letters. 

 

Bonus Qualifications:

Experience with metrology and quantum measurement (timing, inertial sensing, magnetometry), and ability developing algorithms for application of neural network is welcome.
