Human State Sensors

Leveraging intelligent technologies like wearable electronics, miniaturized sensors, big data analysis and machine learning provide novel opportunities to improve the quality of human health. Real-time monitoring of disease biomarkers and taking corrective actions can help prevent the development of chronic illnesses. Various sensors are being developed for the measurement of a wide range of analytes to monitor physiological parameters including motion, temperature, heart rate, neurological function, and pathological state including human diseases. Biomarkers offer a rich sample medium that provides both physiological information as well as emotion recognition, resulting in massive amounts of heterogeneous data. For example, breath gas information can be considered to have a relationship with mental states such as emotions and stress, since feeling emotions affect the autonomic nervous system which controls physiological conditions. Real-time analytics can track human performance and physiological data for targeted feedback, which generates enormous volumes of sensing data that can be analyzed to provide unique, real time information on an individual to evaluate diseases and metal states. Remote collaboration convenes teams from around the world. Research effort involves integration of sensing materials, sensor framework, architectures, analytic methods to extract information and make intelligent-driven decisions via data-learning algorithms. Immersive technologies for human state monitoring will combine the power of data and AI with AR/VR and advances in robotics into one smart and connected ecosystem. Access to the data cloud grants the opportunity to work toward data-driven best practices that decrease unwarranted variation in actions and reduce adverse outcomes. Over time, the immersive intelligence will enable health systems to provide timely, safe, and accurate access to human state monitoring.
