Cooperative-Intelligence Mobility

Mobility that understands, adapts, and cooperates

The Cooperative-Intelligence Mobility Research (CMR) division studies how people, vehicles, and robots can understand one another and act together in shared environments.

About Us

Our research investigates how learning, perception, behavior prediction, planning, and control can work together across interconnected mobility systems. Rather than treating vehicles and robots as isolated platforms, we study how heterogeneous systems can share context, reason about one another, and coordinate their actions toward common goals in complex, dynamic environments.

We explore how intelligent systems can understand their surroundings and the intentions of others, make informed decisions, adapt their behavior as conditions change, and cooperate effectively with people and other intelligent systems. This systems-level perspective extends intelligence beyond individual machines to the interactions, coordination, and shared decision-making that emerge across teams of autonomous systems.

In collaboration with Honda R&D, we bring together artificial intelligence, robotics, automated driving, and human-machine interaction to translate foundational research into adaptive, reliable, and trustworthy mobility technologies. Our goal is to enable intelligent mobility systems that can operate safely and naturally alongside people, vehicles, and other autonomous agents in real-world environments.
