Honda Research Institute, USA (HRI-US) in Mountainview, California is seeking a talented computer scientist eager to work with autonomous vehicle technology. This individual will support the research and development of a Vision-Language Model for autonomous vehicle applications.

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Develop & train a VLM model that enhances autonomous vehicle planning capabilities.
  • Integrate the VLM to an autonomous vehicles motion planner.
  • Develop/Test/Debug algorithms and code to perform robotics related tasks.
  • Benchmark & evaluate VLM performance using real-world and simulated video data.
  • Support research project(s), assist report writing.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 
  • PhD candidate or postdoc in CS, CE, ME, or similar disciplines.
  • Comfortable in Python and/or C++ programming languages.
  • Must be familiar with Robot Operating System (ROS) framework.
  • Must have experience with training Vision-Language Models.
  • Basic computer software: Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with motion planning on autonomous ground vehicles
  • Passion for conducting research in robotic technology and applications.
  • Passion for learning new software tools and languages.
  • Willing to work on multiple projects when needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
