Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Robotics Software Engineering Intern to work on developing reliable software modules for autonomous driving and cooperative mobility research. Work with a team of scientists and engineers to implement software modules for simulators and physical systems.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Architect a robotic software components for Simulator and hardware platforms
  • Implement low-latency and high-performance software prototype modules, integrate, deploy, and test them in both simulation and demo RC cars (F1tenth etc.)
  • Develop software infrastructure and tools, such as test scenarios, baseline algorithms, module interfaces, etc. to benchmark and evaluate motion planning and prediction algorithms
 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • M.S. candidate in robotics, computer science, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • Excellent programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Experience with ROS2
  • Hands on experience with deploying software on limited compute hardware
  • Comfortable with working on large code bases
 

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • ROS1 to ROS2 migration experience 
  • Research experience in planning, machine learning, or robotics 
  • Hands on experience with mobile robots such as F1tenth, MIT Racecar etc., cameras: intel realsense
