As an R&D Aircraft Assembly & Integration Technician, you will perform aircraft assembly, maintenance, modification, and repair work, and provide hands-on support for flight testing operations.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • ​Collaborating with all related engineering teams on technical matters.
  • Coordinate with engineers to execute engineering work orders, including hands-on work in fabricating, processing, and testing aircraft
  • Documenting completed work in maintenance reports for aircraft certification.
  • Installation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment for aircraft.
  • Perform minor bench fabrication and rework (e.g., drilling, trimming, soldering iron) as needed to support prototype assembly.
  • Keeping management and teams fully informed.
  • Author and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (WIs)
  • Mentor junior technicians and share best practices
  • Able to provide timely feedback to the team and team lead.
  • Ensure the shop premises are maintained in a clean and orderly manner. (5S)

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Minimum Experience: 5 years of experience
  • Preferred Experience: 7 – 10 years, including leading tasks, authoring / updating work instructions, and mentoring junior technicians
  • ​Flight test support experience (pre/post-flight inspections, ground ops support, troubleshooting)
  • Aircraft repair and modification
  • Experience with aircraft mechanical assembly, rigging, installs, and functional checks.
  • Experience in prototype assembly / integration in a professional environment
  • General knowledge of aircraft structure and electrical systems
  • General knowledge of OSHA safety and shop practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • General knowledge of composite material fabrication and repair
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate (MUST)

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • ​Experience with 3D modeling software such as CATIA
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Teamcenter
  • Basic machining and/or welding experience (as needed for prototype support)
