​Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a self-motivated research intern to join our marine team in advancing perception technologies for marine robotics. As an intern, you'll be working with a team of engineers in developing perception algorithms, testing in simulators and then transferring to real-world. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate outcomes that help in decision-making.
San Jose, CA

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Train deep learning models for perception algorithms in marine environment
  • Implement Visual SLAM algorithms in marine environment
  • Implement monocular depth estimation approaches and/or panoptic segmentation methods

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • M.S. candidate in robotics, computer science, or related field
  • Excellent programming skills in C++ or Python
  • Experience in ROS2
  • Experience in deep learning
  • Experience in object detection, object tracking, and semantic segmentation
  • Experience working with 3D LiDAR, Cameras, GNSS, and IMU

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in marine robotics
  • Prior experience in sensor fusion
  • Prior experience working with Visual SLAM
