Navigation in High-risk Situations - Honda Research Institute USA
Navigation in High-Risk Situations
Job Number: P23INT-51
This project focuses on developing a navigation (decision-making, motion planning, and trajectory generation) methodology that is able to operate in high-risk situations, particularly when a crash is highly likely or potentially unavoidable, meaning that no safety guarantees are available. This entails evaluating the risk profile of the environment to determine when to trigger the crash mitigation algorithm as well as designing the actual crash mitigation algorithm. This task requires utilizing concepts from the areas of risk analysis, optimization, probabilistic modeling, trajectory planning, and robotics to develop algorithms that are real-world deployable.
