Aerospace Systems Engineer-Design to V&V

The Systems Engineer will support both design-side and integration-side Systems Engineering activities, ensuring continuity across the aircraft development lifecycle in accordance with ARP4754. This role contributes to requirements definition, architecture development, verification and validation (V&V) planning, and configuration control, with the focus shifting by program phase. The engineer will support the DOORS Next Generation (DNG) environment and work closely with design, integration/test, certification, and program teams to ensure requirements are clearly defined, traceable, and verifiable. This role plays a key part in aligning design intent with system integration and verification outcomes to enable a disciplined and integrated aircraft development approach. This position is based onsite in North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

- Support system development activities including requirements definition, architecture development, and baseline control in accordance with ARP4754.
- Support both design-side and system integration-side Systems Engineering activities, with responsibilities shifting as the program progresses.
- Support requirements management using DOORS Next Generation (DNG), including requirements development, traceability, and change coordination.
- Support configuration control of requirements, architectures, and system artifacts across design and integration phases.
- Contribute to verification and validation (V&V) planning from a design perspective and support V&V execution during system integration and test.
- Act as a technical interface between design teams and system integration/test teams to ensure alignment of design intent and verification outcomes.
- Support preparation and maintenance of Systems Engineering documentation, including plans, development assurance artifacts, and certification support materials.
- Support coordination of engineering teams through design reviews, integration activities, and key program milestones.
- Support aircraft certification activities by contributing to requirements justification, verification evidence, and regulatory alignment.
- Collaborate across disciplines to ensure consistent application of Systems Engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Provide guidance and knowledge sharing on Systems Engineering principles, tools, and best practices as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Bonus Qualifications
- Experience working in a System Integration Lab or equivalent test environment.
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, or similar collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of aviation regulations and certification standards.
- Experience supporting aircraft type certification (e.g., 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/29 or equivalent).
- Experience with software- and hardware-intensive aerospace systems.
- Familiarity with MBSE tools and methods.
- Exposure to ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254, and/or DO-331.
- Systems Engineering certification (e.g., INCOSE ASEP/CSEP)
