Curiosity is widely recognized as a fundamental mode of cognition and is particularly critical during childhood development. Developing intelligent robots with a sense of "curiosity" may lead to important breakthroughs in artificial intelligence. In particular, the aim is to enable agents to proactively expand their knowledge and capabilities by themselves through a proliferate process of information-generation.
In this workshop, we aim to bring together researchers, students and practitioners in robotics and other disciplines to discuss how to build curious robots and agents. We invite both researchers developing tools to recreate aspects of intelligent agents such as reinforcement learning, active learning, deep learning, symbolic reasoning, and computer vision, as well as researchers working on fundamental understanding of intelligent agents in related disciplines such as in biology, psychology, and human-robot interaction. In addition, we welcome any research that investigates new techniques for exploration, novelty search, curiosity-based rewards, or information-theoretic objective functions.
