Intention Aware Socially Conscious Motion Planning for Autonomous Navigation

Job Number: P23INT-45
This position investigates motion planning and decision-making algorithms for social robots and autonomous driving applications. In Social settings, robots and autonomous cars need to interact with humans to learn their intention online and adapt their motion plans accordingly, all in a socially acceptable manner. We want robots to be able to make more pro-active actions to navigate with humans confidently and harmoniously. This internship will include development of decision making and motion planning algorithms, which could include concepts from Bayesian filtering, sampling-based motion planning, dual control, human intention estimation and active learning. The intern will collaborate with HRI scientists and engineers and can publish their results in academic conferences.
San Jose, CA
